ETSAP

Energy Technologies Systems Analysis Project. The scope of this Agreement is central to the activities of the secretariat, carried out by the Energy Efficiency, Technology and R&D office as well as the Long Term Co-operation and Policy Analysis office. The modelling tools and expertises of ETSAP are presently being used for the Energy Technology Perspective Project of the Energy Technology Policy Division, as well as by the US Energy Information Administration in the “System for the Analysis of Global Energy markets” (SAGE Project) for the preparation of the International Energy Outlook.

LOGILAB

Since its foundation in 1989, Logilab (LOGIstic LABoratory) has focused its activities on the development and application of modern optimization techniques to solve real-life problems. The lab is composed of researchers from different departments of the University of Geneva and welcomes research associates from different parts of the world. LOGILAB is deeply involved in the development of a research activity in the area of energy modelling under environmental constraints.

IEW

International Energy Workshop.

EMF

The EMF (Energy Modeling Forum) was established in 1976 to provide a structured forum within which energy experts from government, industry, universities, and other research organizations could meet to study important energy and environmental issues of common interest.EMF Begins Study on "Natural Gas, Fuel Diversity and North American Energy Markets" The Forum seeks to: improve understanding of an important energy/environment problem by harnessing the collective capabilities of participating experts, explain the strengths, limitations and caveats of alternative analytical approaches, and identify high priority directions for future research.

IPCC

Recognizing the problem of potential global climate change, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) established the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1988. It is open to all members of the UNEP and WMO. The role of the IPCC is to assess the scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant for the understanding of the risk of human-induced climate change. It does not carry out research nor does it monitor climate related data or other relevant parameters. It bases its assessment mainly on peer reviewed and published scientific/technical literature. The IPCC has three Working Groups and a Task Force Working Group I assesses the scientific aspects of the climate system and climate change. Working Group II addresses the vulnerability of socio-economic and natural systems to climate change, negative and positive consequences of climate change, and options for adapting to it. Working Group III assesses options for limiting greenhouse gas emissions and otherwise mitigating climate change. The Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories is responsible for the IPCC National Greenhouse Gas Inventories Programme.

NCCP

The Energy Information Administration (EIA), created by Congress in 1977, is a statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy. We provide policy-independent data, forecasts, and analyses to promote sound policy making, efficient markets, and public understanding regarding energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment.
