Policy consulting:
Ø  "Integration and Roll up of economy-wide GHG abatement measures in Canada, using MARKAL". National Process on Climate Change (NCCP), Analysis and Modeling Group (AMG), This major project is an important element of the elaboration of the Canadian Strategy on Climate Change. The project involved integrating several hundreds of proposed measures and actions by 16 Issue Tables, into a coherent analysis via the Canadian MARKAL model, as well as a Simulation model and a macro econometric model. In Phase I (1999-2000), we studied a number of alternative paths to achieving the Canadian emission reduction objective stipulated in the Kyoto Protocol. In Phase II (2001-2002), we focused our analysis on alternative permit allocation schemes and their impact on the various sectors of the Canadian economy.
Ø   "Analysis of the impact of GHG reduction policies on the oil and gas industry of Alberta", Alberta Department of the Environment, 2001.
Ø   "Sensitivity Analyses on Nuclear technologies, as a potential contributor to GHG reductions in Canada", Canadian Nuclear Association, 2000-2001.
Ø   "Analysis of the Canadian Electricity Sector under GHG scenarios". Project effected for the Electricity Issue Table (part of the NCCP) from December 1998 to May 1999. The results of this project have been used to prepare the Electricity Table's reports to the AMG. The model used is MARKAL.
Ø   "Analysis of the long-term electricity sector in Québec", effected for Hydro-Québec. For this purpose, the MARKAL model was modified and used to analyze a series of long term scenarios on electricity development in the Province of Québec, 1995.
Ø   "Stratégies de Gestion des Gaz à effet de Serre". The project was sponsored by Ministère de l'Environnement et de la Faune (MEF), and Environment Canada, from (1995-1998). It analyzes various strategies for GHG abatement in the Transportation sector of the province of Québec.

Methodology Consulting:
Ø   Providing extensive support to the design and construction of the global bottom-up model (SAGE) being built by the energy information administration, US department of energy. Ongoing since 2000.
Ø   Providing extensive support to the global modeling effort at the international energy agency, Paris, for their energy technology perspectives project. Ongoing since 2001.
Ø   Provided support to the Environment Protection Agency, USA, on their US national MARKAL model. 2002.
Ø   "Development of the TIMES energy environment model", for the Energy Technology Systems Analysis program (ETSAP), under the sponsorship of the International Energy Agency. The new model is in its second phase (beta version ready). The third phase (version 1.0) will be accomplished in 2001-2002.
Ø   "Implementation of the multi-regional MARKAL model at US DOE" US Department of Energy. The software and databases required to run a multi-region MARKAL model with trade were transferred to US DOE. In addition, the US MARKAL model was augmented with a detailed Oil refining module, 1999.
