This is a ZIP file with VEDA-BE databases (this will give you
some pre-defined sets and tables that we have used to play with the model).
-
If you are using multiple flavors
of VEDA-BE, then you should unzip this file in a new
folder under the \Databases folder of VEDA-BE.
Before Running VEDA
- Make sure that the decimal symbol is set as "." on your computer. You can do this in
Control Panel - Regional settings - Numbers.
Getting Started with the DEMO model
-
Follow the installation instructions on all the links above.
-
Create a new database, and "import templates."
-
You will see two forms: one for declaring the timeslices, and another one for time periods.
Just click "Apply" for the timeslices, as the default declaration has been used in the DEMO templates.
For the time periods, enter 2000 as the starting year, and the first period 1 year long. You can choose your own period lengths for the subsequent periods.
If you are setting up under MARKAL, make sure that 2000 is the first period.
-
Do an import after this, and send a run.
-
Launch VEDA-BE, hit F7, and click the
button "Manage Inpute Files Paths" (bottom left of the form
that
pops up). Add the GAMS_WrkTIMES folder
in the paths.
-
If you are using multiple flavors
of VEDA-BE, then you should open the databases you
unzipped above before hitting F7.
-
Import the results, and enjoy!
Installing VEDA-BE
-
Execute the file VEDA4.msi. You might encounter Error 1931 during the installation process; click OK.
If your computer is connected to the internet:
-
Launch VEDA-BE; click the button "Get key online..." on the Registration form that pops up.
-
If VEDA cannot locate internet explorer on your computer automatically, you will see a windows
browser on your screen. You should select the file IEXPLORE.EXE, which should normally be in the
Internet Explorer folder under program files.
-
Enter the email address where you received the information about this page, and click "Generate".
-
You will receive a license file
by email; save it in the VEDA folder.
If your
computer is NOT connected to the internet:
- Run VEDA-BE.exe and click exit on the registration form. Copy the file VEDALic.txt (found in the VEDA-BE
folder) to a computer that is connected to the internet.
- Access http://www.kanors.com/LicVEDA4.asp; enter your
email address and the 16-char license code (second line of the license file); click "Generate".
- You will receive an email with license information; copy the 6 lines between ~~~~’s to file VEDALic.txt
in the VEDA-BE folder, replacing the existing contents.
-
Launch the application again, and enter your personal information. Click "Register me now".
This completes the VEDA installation.

Problems with licenses
-
In some cases, the registration form might come up even after the license file is copied in the right location.
You can use the
